1 Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song,
his praise in the assembly of the godly!
2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker;
let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!
3 Let them praise his name with dancing,
making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.
5 Let the godly exult in glory;
let them sing for joy on their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats
and two-edged swords in their hands,
7 to execute vengeance on the nations
and punishments on the peoples,
8 to bind their kings with chains
and their nobles with fetters of iron,
9 to execute on them the judgment written!
This is honor for all his godly ones.
Praise the LORD!
Earlier today I met with our pastor to talk about one of my favorite subjects — dance! During our conversation he brought up Psalm 149: 3 as an encouragement. I responded that it is the next verse that I love. This is why I dance, because my God takes pleasure in me! That’s beyond my comprehension! I fail and falter all the time! Yet He takes pleasure in me and adorns me with salvation! Not because of anything I’ve done.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Only by His grace and so my response is to “exult in His glory!”
I loved something the pastor shared with me after I made my comment regarding verse 4. I won’t try to quote it, and I’m not claiming this is perfectly accurate! He basically told me that it was a huge deal when he grasped the Truth that the Lord takes pleasure in His people and that this pleasure is tied to His glory being made known. I can honestly say, I don’t have a firm grasp on this, yet! But hearing the passion in his voice and the hunger God has given me for knowing Him more, makes me want to pursue this further! Though, I doubt I can ever fully grasp the eternal, infinite God’s love for His people!
To finish, a dance for His glory because He takes pleasure in these two daughters!
